Vickie Apple submitted a story this week that is worth celebrating! Here is her story:
"A few weeks ago in Wed. night Bible Zone, Cayden - age 7 - asked Jesus to save him and forgive his sins and be the boss of his life! When he excitedly told me about it I was thrilled for him - and amazed at his child-like understanding & faith. But he's sooo young, I told myself! Does he really understand?? Then this last Sunday, when the little girl sitting in front of us went up to put her light bulb in the Name Wall representing her own salvation decision, I listened to Cayden explain to his little brother, Braddock - age 5 - what it all means: the white bulb, the blue bulb, how we all sin and that sin means we do bad things; that Jesus forgives all our bad things; that Jesus is now the boss of his life; that Jesus loves us so much he died for us so we can live in heaven with him. I sat quietly and just listened to this 7 year old simply and succinctly explain to his 5 year old brother all about salvation. I'm not questioning whether the 7 year old understands enough anymore. If anything - I question if my old "mature" faith is as pure and simple and tender as his!" God worked this week through Cayden! He was saved, he has become bold in his faith, and he is encouraging the young and the old by his story!

Steve Harris and the Hell Fighters went back into the prisons this week to share the gospel. God worked in a mighty way and they were able to find Cody Starr. Last week, Danielle Lay shared about her brother, Cody Starr, and how he needed Jesus. She asked for prayer and people prayed. This week, God answered your prayers! When these men asked Cody if he was a Christian he responded, "I think so". They asked how he knew and Cody mentioned works that he'd done like going to church and doing good things from time to time. They asked a pointed question by saying, "The bible says if you have the Spirit of God in you then you are a child of God and if you don't then you're not. Do you have the Spirit of God in you?" Cody wasn't sure. So he was asked, "Do you want to be sure?" In that moment God worked and Cody said an assured "YES, I would!". Cody surrendered his life to Jesus Christ! It has been another incredible week in the life of our church! Steve Harris lead 2 men, Bryant Townsend and David Nelson, to the Lord this week during a chapel service he spoke at.
God is so good! God used the volunteers in our SFS Bible Club to see Yaretzy Sierra (middle of the image) receive Jesus as her Savior! Yaretzy is in 3rd grade and faithful in Bible Club. Praise the Lord!
Great job, Amanda Autry and Bible Club team! Pastor Jerry entered into a discipleship relationship with Thomas about four years ago. About a year ago, Thomas started his own group for discipleship. The men in his group live in Hope Is Alive sober living houses. Thomas is discipling a few of these men to reproduce groups in some of the other Hope Is Alive sober living houses.
This all started because Pastor Jerry discipled Thomas. Thomas is just doing with other men what Pastor Jerry did with him, and the new leaders in Thomas' group will do with other men what Thomas is doing with them. God is using discipleship to reach people all throughout our city! Great job, Pastor Jerry and Thomas! |
