Development Courses at Western Hills Church
With Course Descriptions...
101: Newcomers Class (1 hour)
Welcome to Western Hills Church! Enjoy fellowship and appetizers as you meet some of our church family and learn more about who we are and what we are all about. (Register for the next 101 class online.)
102: Membership Class (1-1.5 hours)
This class is your next step to connecting with Western Hills Church. During the class, we will quickly review seven key areas of unity in our church. There will be an opportunity at the end of the class for participants to indicate their desire to become part of our church family as a member. (You will receive an invitation to attend this course after attending 101.)
201: Discipleship & Spiritual Growth (1-1.5 hours)
We know that we are called by Jesus to grow spiritually and make disciples, but what does that look like? God’s Word has the answers, and we walk through them in this class. This class is for members or for those who have completed 101 and 102. (You will receive an invitation to attend this course after attending 102 and/or becoming a member.)
301: Leadership Playbook Luncheon (2 hours)
The primary purpose of this class is to recruit new group leaders. Our current group leaders are asked to attend this class each time it is presented and to bring with them those that are candidates for future leadership. Together we will discuss the material and clarify the strategy and purpose of group and team discipleship at Western Hills.
401-404: Leadership Development & Ongoing Training (a Friday evening and Saturday morning)
This is our ongoing leadership development for current group leaders. The 400 classes are held once a year. First year participants attend 401, second year participants 402, and so on. Once a leader reaches 404 they become one of the trainers at 401 and begin helping others learn what they have been taught. The 400 series classes are held once a year.
501: Leadership Field Guide (2 hours)
Once a year our group leaders meet together around a potluck meal to review our field guide. This guide is updated each year and contains the most practical subjects that group leaders need to be prepared for (i.e. - leading communion and love feasts, meeting physical needs in your group, branching your group, etc.). During this meeting, group coaches take their group leaders through the guide and answer any questions they might have.
